The SFN Network To Co-Produce And Broadcast The Indie Soap Awards In New York City
Live event on February 21. Broadcast date set for Sunday, March 18, 2012 at SFNTV.com
Hollywood, CA – February 9, 2012 – The SFN – http://www.sfntv.com — the groundbreaking online television network — today announced that it will co-produce and broadcast the 3rd Annual Indie Soap Awards (ISAs) taking place February 21 at New World Stages in New York City.
In a first for the ISAs, the show will be broadcast Sunday, March 18 at 6pm pacific, exclusively on The SFN network.
“We’re thrilled to co-produce and air a show that honors the stars and series of the web,” said Stewart St. John, co-founder and president of The SFN. “From Emmy® award winners to talented unknowns, the ISAs and The SFN are dedicated to supporting, uplifting and raising the bar of web entertainment.”
“I am so excited that We Love Soaps is co-producing The ISAs with The SFN,” said Roger Newcomb, founder of We Love Soaps and the Indie Soap Awards. “The ceremony is doubling in size this year at New World Stages. Airing the ceremony on The SFN expands our reach and allows us to make watching the telecast appointment viewing. Fans will get to see their favorite television and web series stars all dressed up and truly celebrated like never before.”
The ISAs honor the best in scripted, serialized programming on the web. Featuring a mix of daytime and primetime Emmy® award-nominees and winners, broadway stars and rising newcomers from the web community, the ISAs have become a cutting edge event that unites all media platforms.
“My dream was to create an Oscars or Tonys for serialized web series,” said Newcomb. “Our new partnership with The SFN is definitely the final step toward realizing that goal. We Love Soaps, and in particular the Indie Soap Awards–are about elevating an entire genre; the last best hope for the soap opera. And when it comes to delivering the best Indie Soap content to the greatest audience, there’s no one better than The SFN.”
“Roger’s passion and support for the soap genre and his work at We Love Soaps is absolutely inspiring,” said Todd Fisher, co-founder. “That’s why we’re so excited to be teaming up for this amazing event.”
The SFN has quickly established itself as the go-to network for serialized programming, with its lineup of unparalleled web content and appointment-viewing rollout.
“Stewart and I are very particular about what airs on The SFN,” said Fisher. “It’s the secret ingredient to what makes the network tick… and the Indie Soap Awards is a perfect match for what we like to see.”
“With shows like California Heaven, DeVanity, Ragged Isle and Fumbling Thru The Pieces already airing on The SFN, and also nominated for ISAs, we are definitely the home of the transmedia soap,” said St. John. “We’re ushering in a brand new era of entertainment that can be seen on mobile devices, tablets as well as computers. It’s a very exciting time to be pioneering this space.”
